Where Do I Start?


If you're wondering where to start when looking for spiritual growth resources, this self-evaluation may help. Prayerfully, answer these questions and consider different areas of your spiritual life. Your responses will lead you to resources which we can highly recommend for your growth. We also recommend that you print out this self-evaluation when you are finished, so you can refer back to it later to celebrate how you've grown.

Self-Evaluation


I am investing my life whole-heartedly in cooperative efforts to build Christ's church here at Gateway.

I am addressing the old sinful patterns of my life by learning to live under the leadership of the Holy Spirit


I am confident that I have a relationship with God and that I will spend eternity with Him.


I am managing my time and resources so that I can have maximum impact for God's purposes on earth.


I am willing to forgive others.


I am growing in my knowledge of God through daily personal Bible reading.


I am an active participant in a small group and we are learning to love, support, and encourage one another.


I am accepting the things that I cannot change and becoming increasingly grateful for the life I have been given.


I have discovered and am developing my God-given gifts for serving others.


I am developing my communication with God through daily prayer times.


I am experiencing, and others around me are noticing, more of the fruits of the Spirit in my life (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, self-control, etc.)


I am deepening my trust in God through obedience to His Word.


I have a relationship with at least one other believer (a running partner) that is characterized by honesty and accountability about my struggles.


I am avoiding addictive behaviors to meet my needs (food, TV, busyness, substance abuse, pornography, etc.)


I regularly participate in times of corporate worship at my church.


I am growing in my ability to receive and show love to others.


I am cultivating relationships with non-Christians and sharing my faith with them.


I am demonstrating love to my spouse or significant other and pursuing a Godly relationship (if applicable).


I sense God calling me to spiritually develop others.


Based on the Biblical model of the tithe, I can describe my giving as regular, generous, and proportionate to how God has blessed me.


I am engaged in regular spiritual practices that help me live in intimate connection with Jesus and in obedience to Him.


I believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
