Start Here:
The resources listed for this topic (the Bible) are quite extensive. To start with, we recommend one activity most: gaining an understanding & love for reading/studying the Bible. Understanding the Bible is absolutely central to growing as a Christ-follower! The spiritual practice of reading the Bible is something we do to better know God and experience life-change.
As an introduction to this vital concept, we recommend a Bible-Reading Plan. There are Bible Reading Plans for people at all levels -- if you've never read the Bible or if you know it well.

- Author: Gordon Fee & Douglas Stuart

- Notes: This book has been around for many years and has proven it's worth as a guide for understanding the Bible and making your reading more worthwhile. The chapters walk through the sections of Scripture providing a good overview of the subject of each, and helping make the content understandable by those of us who aren't scholars. This book is helpful, also, for those who think they are generally familiar with the Bible but want to know more.

- Author: Tony Jones

- Notes: This book was perhaps written primarily for students, but even those of us who've been out of school for a while will learn something about how to better connect with God in how we read the Bible, meditate on it, communicate with God about it, and live out the message. If you've been studying the Bible for a while and are feeling that your reading is becoming dry, try thinking about the Bible like Tony does in this book -- you may see fresh life in your study. If you are new to Bible reading and are looking for ways to experience God's word more fully, this easy-to-read book may be interesting to you, too. Includes some ideas that you could use with a running partner or group, also.

- Author: Norman Geisler, William Nix
© 1974 Moody Press ISBN 0802428789
- Notes: This book presents a conservative view to the Bible, helping the reader understand how the Bible came together and why it matters. The authors have substantial scholarly knowledge, but manage to keep this book readable to average people, also. Gain a better understanding of the inerrancy and inspiration of Scripture. Could be used by a group with some planning.
